We Found Jack Nicholson’s Axe From ‘The Shining’ | Vanity Fair

Published

on

It’s one of the most iconic sequences in film history, acutely focused on one undeniable weapon. But the actual axe Jack Nicholson used to cleave through the door in Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining” took an astonishing journey following that fateful day on set. Vanity Fair Hollywood Correspondent Anthony Breznican takes us through the story of a prop that was almost lost to history’s cutting room floor, only to eventually sell at auction for over $200,000.

Check out Prop Store’s current live auction at https://www.PropStore.com/liveauction to find tons of movie and television props you can make your own.
