The Making of Vogue’s December Issue | Vogue

Published

on

When fashion designer Marc Jacobs was tapped to be the guest editor for Vogue’s December issue, he wasn’t quite sure he was up to the job. “My initial reaction to it was, I don’t know how I could do this….but Anna can be very persuasive.” Working with model Kaia Gerber as his cover star, Marc helped put together a fashion dream team for the issue, recruiting the likes of famed photographer Steven Meisel, makeup artist Pat McGrath, former Vogue creative director Grace Coddington and more.

The oversized dresses seem inspired by the mourning mother painting ~ Giuseppe molteni. Something about them drooping seems so fitting ❤

I will write it, although it’s a heavy statement: this is the BEST issue of American Vogue IN YEARS.❤🎉🙏✨MJ spoke so eloquently about it as well, I fell in love with him and his vision on things. Bravo. Congratulations to all of the people involved. And sth last, Mrs Wintour well done for your Avant-garde intellect and your expansive approach. Give room, space to Others means you Understand and appreciate their Value. That is a very uncommon and rare thing to find in leadership nowadays.

How the Front Row Became the Front Row | Vogue

Published

on

Over the past 75 years, fashion shows have evolved from intimate presentations to global spectacles. Vogue takes a look at the rich history of fashion’s illustrious front row. Dior’s 1950s “New Look” revolutionized femininity, while the ’60s embraced individual freedom and exclusivity. The ’70s introduced cultural influencers and turned shows into entertainment, paving the way for the extravagant glamour of the ’80s. By the ’90s, mainstream appeal dominated, and the 2000s saw celebrities strategically claim the front row. The rise of influencers in the 2010s, fueled by social media, democratized access to Fashion Week. Even as the pandemic briefly halted live shows, the industry adapted and returned. Today, the front row itself has become part of the spectacle with celebrities like Kylie Jenner wearing the same outfit we also see on the runway.
