I never experienced a concert like hers and I’ve been to a lot. The energy of the fans filled the stadium with love, compassion and acceptance. Her journey has been long and tough but she now stands beautiful in her power. Peace, Love and Unity is the only way????

Photographer Tyler Mitchell and fashion editor Carlos Nazario head to Texas on a “school trip” of sorts for Vogue’s Summer Issue. In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, Tyler and Carlos wanted to choose a state that represented the good, the bad, and the ugly of the United States. Texas seemed like a natural fit. Along the way, Tyler and Carlos journey across the state, visiting Texas Southern University to capture cheerleaders and a drumline, spending time with line dancers and a gospel church community, and stopping at a ranch stewarded by Black cowboys.
