Paleontologist Reviews Jurassic Park Scenes | Vanity Fair

Published

on

Take a look back at paleontologist Mark Loewen reviewing dinosaur scenes from ‘Jurassic Park’ films. How accurate were ‘Jurassic Park,’ ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park,’ ‘Jurassic World,’ and ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ when it comes to depicting dinosaurs on the big screen?

Why can we never get to see a paleontologist react to Peter Jackson’s King Kong? Now, THAT would be interesting.

There are already countless of videos of paleontologists reacting to the Jurassic Park movies, and this guy is just repeating those same points ad nauseum.

I hate these videos… it’s so redundant at this point. Might as well talk about the inaccuracies of the land before time while you’re at it…

In 2015 I think people knew dinosaurs had feathers, they just decided to go for the 1993 look

    All conjecture…
    Nothing based in fact…
Just a grifter selling his snake oil…
No proof of any of it …

This is the first palaeontologist I’ve heard that actually thinks dinosaurs like T-Rex actually roared. Most don’t think so. Yes, they would have made sounds, but not anything that sounds like a roar.

  18. @Laufield

    June 28, 2025 at 10:29 am

    Jurassic Park raptors looks scary
Jurassic World raptors looks too cute

  19. @Mr.Kittel

    June 28, 2025 at 10:46 am

And then again you have to take into account that none of those dinos are pureblooded, they have modern day reptile DNA mixed in with them wich could alter their looks alot. 🙂

  20. @cinnakincat4260

    June 28, 2025 at 10:54 am

7:12 and really, I can *believe* that they made the dinosaurs bigger on purpose. Like Claire said, they want bigger, scarier *more teeth*

  21. @humanspoder777

T-rex vs. Spino is like a Pitbull vs. a Goose lol.

8:40 it’s also important to note that the T. Rex in Jurassic Park 3 wasn’t fully grown, and it was smaller and less powerful than a full grown T. Rex
