Nestled in the heart of Tokyo’s high-end Ginza district, Casanova Vintage stands as a specialty shop of the highest order. Under the management of the deeply knowledgeable Casanova Benkei, the store offers a carefully curated selection that is equal parts fashion history and contemporary culture. Benkei breaks down everything the shop has to offer, from rare Yohji Yamamoto leather jackets worn by the likes of G-DRAGON and Travis Scott, to enormous 50-centimeter Hermès Birkin bags that feel more like museum pieces than accessories. The collection also includes elusive bags co-designed by Vivienne Westwood and Louis Vuitton, as well as holy grails such as the rare and highly sought-after Cartier Crash.

Photographer Tyler Mitchell and fashion editor Carlos Nazario head to Texas on a “school trip” of sorts for Vogue’s Summer Issue. In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, Tyler and Carlos wanted to choose a state that represented the good, the bad, and the ugly of the United States. Texas seemed like a natural fit. Along the way, Tyler and Carlos journey across the state, visiting Texas Southern University to capture cheerleaders and a drumline, spending time with line dancers and a gospel church community, and stopping at a ranch stewarded by Black cowboys.
