How an Iconic Makeup Artist Creates Looks for Vogue World

Iconic makeup artist Pat McGrath shows us how she creates one of the many makeup looks for London’s edition of Vogue World. McGrath, Jenna Kuchera, and her makeup team are tasked with creating the hundreds of looks for the event—exaggerated winged liner, pastel blue smokey eyes, and more—all with a distinct Anglo flare. For the night, there were three discrete beauty genres: Punk, New Romantics, and Sweet Dream. “My inspiration is a blend of Blitz Kids, early obsessions, the street culture of Soho’s Blitz clubs, and iconic fashion photography like Jessica Stam’s i-D cover. I wanted to channel the eclectic and daring spirit of those eras while making it modern,” says McGrath.
