My wife looks like Laura Dern.

My wife’s name is also Laura.

These two factors may or may not have had something to do with my proposing to her 25 years ago. 😏

It’s often hard to imagine her freaking out. You don’t think about it because she’s a quiet actor but then she shows up, freaks out and we’re all “oh sh*t, that’s how I’d freak out too” and she knocks it out of the ballpark. There’s always an everyday type woman she plays who enters situations and she grabs at who we all are and presents it to us as if we’re looking into a mirror.

I’d also love to hear the behind the scenes parts. Like when actors say they had to run with a rock in their shoe to pretend to limp correctly or they remember being yelled at in a scene by a director whom they thought loved them but in order to get the emotion out, they were destroyed. Later to talk to the director who said he did it on purpose for them, earning that Emmy.

A fine woman that will always have a special place in my heart thanks to the young me happening on a TV showing of Rambling Rose.

I love how Laura’s career has just skyrocketed in the last few years. I know she’s been a star for forever but i feel like she’s really at the top of her game ever since Big Little Lies
