Vogue can now talk about it cuz the industry is more inclusive.

When Vogue had the power to change things, they never did. Never did such a video when the industry wasn’t inclusive.

    Change my mind

it breaks my heart that for so long models felt as if they didn’t have the right to speak on certain issues or were pressured to just sit still and look pretty. so now seeing models speaking their mind and using their voice and influence for the better good and speaking up for those you don’t have the platform to makes me really happy.

    August 12, 2021 at 7:26 pm

Today people want to speak up only about their own issues and to fight. Nothing more.

@Vogue, an idea is to interview those models who were considered more “unconventional/alternative” and avant-garde/risky in the midst of the ‘Supermodel Era’ (e.g., the 1990s – late 1990s) – think Kristen McMenamy, Erin O’Connor, Guinevere Van Seenus, Alek Wek, and so on. There were several trailblazers/”unconventionals” in the industry back in those days. And essentially, they helped to start this movement towards the alternative beauty culture that we are seeing emerge again today. In my opinion, they were all personalities that happened to model than simply a clothes horse in search of a personality.

I can see how vogue has changed and turned into a different kind of media, I think it has become more humane in the sense that people in the fashion insdustry are now presented as real people, not only pictures of pretty faces and pretty poses. I’m loving this new content!
