Everything You Need to Know About Supermodels | Vogue

Any successful model might be described as “super” but not every successful model is a “Supermodel.” That designation is most accurately used to describe a group of one-name-wonders who captivated pop culture in the late ’80s through the ‘90s. Hamish Bowles explains how Supermodels changed the world and paved the way for Instagirls.

There were supers, there are no new supers no more. Naomi, Linda, Christy, Claudia and Carla remain untouched by any of the girls today.

A Supermodel is a model who’s well known to the general public outside of fashion that’s generally a harder feat to achieve as the masses on average don’t really care about fashion like that because most people can’t afford to shop at exclusive upscale department stores Supermodels were on par with pop stars and movie stars in their fame people know who they are and as such earn more money than the average working model

Naomi was right when she said Gisele was the last supermodel. Models were bigger than actresses at one point.. They used to be extremely hard working and talented. Unfortunately the supermodel is dead now

Inside Christian Dior’s Private Archive with Jonathan Anderson | Objects of Affection | Vogue

Christian Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson visits Dior Heritage in Paris to explore some of the most cherished pieces from the house’s extraordinary archive. First up is the iconic Bar jacket, the defining silhouette of Christian Dior’s revolutionary 1947 New Look, followed by La Cigale, an architectural 1952 dress and one of Anderson’s personal favorites from the Dior archive. Its sculptural construction also serves as a direct inspiration for Anderson’s own Dior Cigale bag. He then moves on to the magical Junon dress, Christian Dior’s spectacular 1949 creation covered in layers of iridescent, petal-like embroidery. The surviving piece is now so fragile that it can only be displayed lying flat. Heading deeper into the archives, Jonathan arrives at the original charts for Christian Dior’s Spring/Summer 1949 haute couture collection, offering a fascinating glimpse into how the house meticulously documented and organized its collections. Along the way, Jonathan also dives into another side of Christian Dior’s legacy: his often-overlooked business acumen.
