Representation matters. Would have loved to see this review done by POC therapists to provide cultural context and insights overlooked in the current review.

@Josh Judge race matters. Lawrence as a black man was going through depression and in the black community mental health issues are ignored. That’s just one example of something that needs to be talked about.

      September 8, 2020 at 6:55 pm

This is SUCH a reach. So only black people can articulate or dissect black shows? Come on. These people are trained at what they do, and ALL of their analyses are on point. So what would have been different.
And before you try to come for me, I’m black. Representation matters, but that doesnt mean only people of the same race can analyze a show ffs!!!

    • 90sVenus

      September 8, 2020 at 6:59 pm

@icechipz no one said only black people can analyze black shows LOL she said that she would have loved for a therapist who was a person of color to explain some of the cultural issues that were present in those clips. I’m going to need you to calm down because you’re being a little emotional about something that’s really a positive thing when you think about it.

90sVenus thank you. It’s so draining to explain the many ways our race, culture and to a large degree traumas impact our responses to relationship conflict (like Issa and Lawrence); corporate/professional behaviors etc. Anyone responding with “but why”, I’m convinced is doing so purely to be contrarian.

    • 90sVenus

      September 8, 2020 at 7:19 pm

@NinaMos I normally don’t try to explain because even some black people don’t get it so it’s a waste of time. To think others will.

I wish they analysed Issa and Molly’s relationship, I find it even more interesting and complex. I feel like a lot people lose important friendships because we don’t really have the study and understanding of friend relationships like we have of romantic relationships, even though it’s just as important sometimes even more…

Yes! This would have been so good! Especially with how season 4 went down. Theres a LOT to unpack with molly and Issa’s relationship

One of the reasons I fell off of Insecure was seeing the parallels of this relationship to my own in my twenties. (Lots of differences as well, mind you but enough is similar that I would get a tight chest and chills while watching.) It’s strange because listening to the therapists discuss allowed me to reflect on my own past situation. This is a first 😂 Usually it’s just fun and informative and not this personal!

I think context matters, it would’ve helped them both. Issa was wrong for cheating and not communicating. Lawrence was wrong for not being present for Issa, but he was in a dark place. She didn’t say something sooner and help him get out that place. But it couldn’t have to have to be completely on her. He was communicating also.

How the Front Row Became the Front Row | Vogue

Published

on

Over the past 75 years, fashion shows have evolved from intimate presentations to global spectacles. Vogue takes a look at the rich history of fashion’s illustrious front row. Dior’s 1950s “New Look” revolutionized femininity, while the ’60s embraced individual freedom and exclusivity. The ’70s introduced cultural influencers and turned shows into entertainment, paving the way for the extravagant glamour of the ’80s. By the ’90s, mainstream appeal dominated, and the 2000s saw celebrities strategically claim the front row. The rise of influencers in the 2010s, fueled by social media, democratized access to Fashion Week. Even as the pandemic briefly halted live shows, the industry adapted and returned. Today, the front row itself has become part of the spectacle with celebrities like Kylie Jenner wearing the same outfit we also see on the runway.
