The Lord of the rings trilogy are my favorite films of all time, and I truly believe that they’re timeless masterpieces. I acknowledge that The Hobbit films aren’t as good, but they are SO well done if you’ve actually read the book. They got way too much hate, and I think they’re at least better than the Star Wars prequels, sequels and any of the YA franchises that came out around that time. And I can’t imagine anyone else playing Bilbo Baggins other than Martin Freeman.

I loved The Hobbit films but I think they dragged it out too long. I think they could have done it in one or two films (of normal length) and it would have been better received by a lot of people.

I’ve had a major crush on Martin Freeman since I first saw him on The Office. It became more realized when he played John Watson in Sherlock but I remember being about 7 and thinking “hey that boy is cute” lmfao

PJ & Del Toro were right though. I couldn’t imagine Bilbo as anyone else. I read the books long before the movie and when I saw him in the trailers, it was precisely who I had pictured.

His career is pretty spectacular, it’s not often as an actor you get to star in so many big franchises and revolutionary television shows, but still be able to do smaller stuff as well

Love Martin, he really is an underrated actor. Loved him as Bilbo & Watson. However it was a shame you skipped over the Cornetto Trilogy, would’ve loved to hear more about them

I love Martin Freeman and think he is a marvellous actor. He always embodies a role vs just, as he put it, “emoting all over”. Each character he plays, including the fantasy one, feels real, like someone you could meet up with for a coffee or run into around a corner. It’s interesting seeing so many of his roles illuminated in this way and to see how different each of them are with his brilliant portrayal making each feel alive.

The fact that Peter Jackson based the filming of The Hobbit around Martin’s availability should show how much of a big deal Martin truly is.
