I haven’t seen The Nightingale but The Babadook is one of my all time favorite movies , thus far definitely my favorite of the decade . I can’t wait to watch it .

Gotta say, didn’t like The Babadook. Movies or stories that build towards something and then just go, “It’s all in their mind or it was a just a dream.” really turn me off. I can respect the concept as an allegory, it just doesn’t sit with me.

Something that is not said enough about The Babadook is that it is SUPER divisive for some reason , I am pretty sure that you can find both extremely positive and extremely negitive comments on any comment section about the film .

What a respectable and impressive visionary. All the choices she makes and why are fascinating and deep and so well envisioned and executed with such consideration for everything about the result. Really impressive. The visual aspects of the Babadook are something I put in with the best horror out there. The thing that most impressed me was the attention to the physicality of everything and that there was so much that leant to powerful (even when subtle) distortions of the feeling of movement or space, even to the extent that there were all these shots with an uncanny valley like feeling even when not using props, but just shooting the actors. All the things that made up the feel of that movie are interesting to hear about and the contrast of the two movies gives you some concept of the range of how someone like her applies the diversity of their concepts and the way they approach their medium as a whole. Any look into her thought process is a special treat.

Looooved this! She seems great and like a true artist but more down to earth. Definitely want to watch Nightingale now. Babadook was excellent.
