Inside Buckingham Palace’s Queen Elizabeth II Exhibition | Vogue

Published

on

Hamish Bowles, Vogue’s Global Editor-at-Large, alongside Caroline de Guitaut, Surveyor of the King’s Works of Art, tours Buckingham Palace for the Royal Collection Trust’s “Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style” exhibition at The King’s Gallery, exploring Queen Elizabeth II’s extraordinary treasury of royal dress. The exhibition traces her style evolution from a young child in puffed bloomers to her 1947 wedding to Prince Philip, dressed in Norman Hartnell, and on to a dazzling display of aquamarine and ruby tiaras, capturing decades of regal craftsmanship and personal expression.

Can we talk about QE2 clothing without talking about her wedding dress or coronation dress; there’s many documentaries in the creation of them and she wore other interesting things too!

When Queen Elizabeth was young, was she obsessed with dragons? I asked that question because I’m wishing that Columbia and Sony Pictures would create a live-action/CGI feature film of “The Paper Bag Princess”, who was also named Elizabeth, and, in this feature film based on that book by Robert Munch that I’m just wishing that they would create, Elizabeth, The Paper Bag Princess herself (played by Elle Fanning), will be obsessed with dragons and that would be what would attract the dragon, that wrecks Elizabeth’s castle, burns all of her clothes with his fiery breath and carries off Prince Ronald (played by Tom Holland), (voiced by Idris Elba). I mean, “The Paper Bag Princess”, as well as some other books by Robert Munch, came to life in a direct-to-video animated series called “A Bunch of Munch”, but, if there’s only one Robert Munch that can come to life as a theatrical feature-length movie, that would be “The Paper Bag Princess”. However, after thinking about live-action movies with big parties, friendly giants and growing and shrinking people in them, I thought that “Moira’s Birthday”, “David’s Father” and “The Boy in the Drawer” could come to life as theatrical feature-length movies as well, but, because it was so popular, I want “The Paper Bag Princess” to be the very first book by Robert Munch to come to life as a theatrical feature-length movie.
