Vogue was welcomed to follow singer-songwriter Sombr during the hours leading up to a headlining show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, the second engagement in a three night run. “A year ago, I never thought it would be possible to play shows as a headline for even a thousand people. Being in the position I’m in now is just more than I could ever ask for, and I’m so grateful.”

The most meaningful item in A’ja’s bag is her late grandmother’s coin purse, which she now uses to carry her ID cards. “I don’t put coins in it because my heart’s in it.”
