‘Wicked’ director Jon M. Chu breaks down Jonathan Bailey’s ‘Dancing Through Life’ scene alongside cinematographer Alice Brooks. Jon provides an elaborate explanation of the specific color plays throughout the scene, building in windows in the “tornado wheel” to get the perfect lighting, careful coordination to find the right timing with all of Jonathan’s tricks and so much more.

I’m so sorry but the lighting of the entire Dancing Through Life sequence is so distractingly ATROCIOUS in the movie — everything is so whitewashed & overly backlit. One of the only things I didn’t like abt the movie

the lighting in this scene is so gorgeous and it feels so real. it lets you just get lost in the dancing and singing and it’s PERFECT!

This is the movie that’s at least gonna spend their production budget on ads/marketing. If not more. And it was a very high budget film. Ads everywhere. They must be predicting over $1B run.

Over the past 75 years, fashion shows have evolved from intimate presentations to global spectacles. Vogue takes a look at the rich history of fashion’s illustrious front row. Dior’s 1950s “New Look” revolutionized femininity, while the ’60s embraced individual freedom and exclusivity. The ’70s introduced cultural influencers and turned shows into entertainment, paving the way for the extravagant glamour of the ’80s. By the ’90s, mainstream appeal dominated, and the 2000s saw celebrities strategically claim the front row. The rise of influencers in the 2010s, fueled by social media, democratized access to Fashion Week. Even as the pandemic briefly halted live shows, the industry adapted and returned. Today, the front row itself has become part of the spectacle with celebrities like Kylie Jenner wearing the same outfit we also see on the runway.
